Robbie the Nao Humanoid Robot

This week we had a visit from Justin, Kel and Nao Humanoid Robot, Robbie from gotafe Wangaratta. The school and gotafe are involved in a community partnership to work collaboratively on a project to introduce coding and programming to all students. Coding is a measure in the Victorian Curriculum and these sessions were a wonderful introduction to the programming that happens behind the scenes everywhere in our daily lives. The session involved hands on code writing using cup stacks, as well as investigating Thymio robots and how they work using sensors, and a meet and greet with Robbie, the 60cm Humanoid Robot who talked, danced and provided a fun-filled end to the program.

$1,400 Raised for RCH Good Friday Appeal

A fantastic afternoon and great way to finish the term. A sensational effort from all concerned as we raised $1,400 for the Royal Children’s Hospital. A community effort through baking, donating goods and raiding the piggy banks is much appreciated. At assembly on Wednesday we had Geoff Perry from Chiltern CFA on hand to accept the $1,400 raised.

Geoff spoke about the great work done at RCH and his personal connection through his granddaughter. It was important for the children to hear the importance of where the money goes and how the entire Chiltern community raised  funds for Good Friday.

Grand Prix action!

The Year 6 class had a long but fantastic day at the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix. It was a wonderful opportunity for our children to witness the on track entertainment and display respect and responsibility outside of the school grounds. They should be very proud of themselves for their efforts on the day.

Community BBQ

A wonderful turnout on Wednesday evening. A relaxed, informal start to the year and some fun and games along the way. The students who ran the games did a great job, everyone seemed to go home happy and full of sausages so a great result all around!

Clean Up Australia Day

On Friday March 3 we spent our ‘Buddies’ time participating in Clean up Australia Day. This was a great opportunity to think about the big picture of pollution and rubbish while taking action locally.
