Chiltern Primary School is proud to be a government school which offers Outside of School Hours Care; available in the morning and after school. Our program is run by a qualified staff member, and our students thoroughly enjoy the learning opportunities this program brings to children.
Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) lets your child have fun in a relaxed and safe environment. Many school-aged children enjoy having time to hang out with their friends after hours and most enjoy the range of activities on offer.
The OSHC program compliments the formal school curriculum and provides children with opportunities to further develop socially, emotionally and cognitively. School classrooms are very structured and curriculum based, whereas at OSHC the learning is developed around children’s interests and incorporated through play experiences. In OSHC, children have the opportunity to socially engage with children in different year levels which provides them with opportunities to form friendships with children not in their immediate group of peers. Play and leisure is very important to children as it enables them to develop creativity and problem solving skills whilst being guided by our experienced and dedicated team members.

If the cost of care is a concern, please consider that you may be entitled to a Child Care Rebate. This is means-tested, so parents must be eligible for the Child Care Rebate in order to claim the rebate.
The Child Care Rebate covers 50% of out-of-pocket child care expenses for approved child care up to the maximum legislated amount per year, per child, in approved care.
The rebate can be returned to parents in several ways. Parents who choose the direct payment method will be paid fortnightly or weekly, or you can choose to have the Child Care Rebate automatically sent to the child care service and they will reduce the amount you are charged by the amount of the rebate entitlement.
Cost: $25.00 per session, per child
